GenAI Traffic Datasets

Datasets and resources on the network traffic generated by Generative AI apps such as ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini, captured with human experimenters and labeled with the generative activity performed.

Why GenAI traffic

Generative AI chatbots are quickly becoming everyday apps on mobile devices, and the traffic they generate differs from that of traditional apps: answers are produced on the fly, text and images are generated on demand, and each provider relies on its own infrastructure.

The GenAI Traffic Project looks at these apps from the network viewpoint. Its datasets contain human-generated traffic of GenAI mobile apps, labeled with both the app and the generative activity performed, so that their traffic can be characterized, modeled and classified.

Prompts

Besides traffic collected with unconstrained prompts, every GenAI dataset includes a controlled part: the same set of prompts is issued to every app, so that the traffic of different apps can be compared for the same request.

The prompts cover different tasks, from short factual questions to code, translation, summarization and image generation, and are published together with the answers given by each app.
