Broadband performance

Description

How fast is a broadband connection really, and what limits it? The group measures broadband access performance from the user side, where the experience of customers can be observed directly.

BISmark (Broadband Internet Service Benchmark) is a platform for broadband Internet and home network research based on instrumented home routers, developed together with Georgia Tech.
HoBBIT (Host-Based Broadband Internet Telemetry) monitors broadband performance from the hosts of the user network.

The measurements also cover new generation satellite broadband Internet services, compared with ADSL and 3G.
